It is cold here in Maine and the natural world is sleeping. If you follow me on Instagram you know that gardening and plants are a big part of my life. I have a 30′ x 70′ vegetable garden and work really hard to grow beautiful food that we enjoy throughout the colder months.
In my life as a tattooer I have become known as an artist who likes to focus on nature related imagery. Drawing and tattooing all manner of plants and flowers makes me happy and creatively fulfilled. I love paying attention to detail and rendering these living things on skin with great care.
This veggie sleeve is a project I did last year. When I’m working on bigger pieces like this that involve lots of elements I start by asking my clients to give me a list of items that they ‘must have’ as well as some ideas that may not necessarily make the final drawing. I then set out to work on creating a composition that flows nicely on the body and feels cohesive. I can’t remember how many sessions this arm took but my client was very motivated to finish it and came in at very regular intervals for color. It is a project I very much loved doing!
